Beyond exercises - towards mastery
THE KINSKI METHOD
In a world dominated by franchises and rigid teaching systems, the Kinski Method stands apart. It offers a highly individualised and effective approach, grounded in deep anatomical knowledge and adaptable to each client’s unique needs.
With over 25 years of teaching experience and exposure to a wide range of Pilates styles and interpretations, Pilates Academy SA is built on the belief that every person’s posture, goals, and limitations are unique. Recognising and respecting these differences is essential to applying Joseph Pilates’s timeless principles while integrating modern movement science.
Just like fingerprints, spinal curvatures are unique to each individual. Learning to recognise these variations and apply precise anatomical principles leads to safer, faster, and more effective results. Each course includes the complete traditional Pilates repertoire while also teaching how to adapt exercises for various postural types, pathologies, and physical discomforts.
The safety and effectiveness of the Kinski Method have been refined through years of collaboration with doctors, physiotherapists, chiropractors, and biokineticists.
Blending classical Pilates with the biomechanics and precision of Russian ballet (Vaganova method), incorporating diverse breathing techniques, and recognising that posture reflects emotional health, Katya Kinski has developed a distinctive approach. Known for her humour, vivid imagery, and ability to make complex concepts accessible, Katya makes the learning experience both inspiring and unforgettable.
INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION & STANDARDS
Pilates Academy SA is independent from any franchise. Our curriculum aligns with the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP), offering an optional pathway to worldwide recognition. Registration with NPCP is not required to teach Pilates – it is entirely optional for students who want additional formal recognition.
There is no single international Pilates authority – you do not need to belong to any specific organization to teach Pilates anywhere in the world. Some well-known providers operate within franchise-based systems, and their certifications are primarily recognised only within their own network.
In contrast, our independent training gives you flexibility, credibility, and recognition across multiple studios, clinics, and professional settings. Completing our comprehensive program is all you need to become a fully qualified Pilates teacher, able to teach both private and group classes in a variety of professional environments. We encourage our students to work independently – what could be more rewarding than running your own business?
Graduates of Pilates Academy SA are highly regarded by physiotherapists, doctors, chiropractors, and movement professionals across South Africa – and beyond – thanks to the evidence-based precision and adaptability of the Kinski Method.
EXAMS, CERTIFICATES & CPD POINTS
Upon completing your course or programme and successfully passing the required exams, you will receive an official Pilates Academy SA Certificate,
recognising you as a qualified Pilates teacher – able to teach both private and group classes.
Where applicable, CPD points awarded by Stellenbosch University will be reflected on your certificate.
* When booking your course, please indicate whether you require CPD points, as the availability of CPDs may depend on the number of confirmed students and the time necessary for the application.
