Internationally Recognized Pilates Expert
Katya Kinski started her career as a dancer, receiving a diploma in professional dance from Perm State Ballet College, one of the top three ballet schools in Russia. In 1991 she joined the Russian State Ballet in Moscow, and performed with the company on the world’s greatest stages. She has also danced with the Cape Town City Ballet where she performed principal roles in many productions including Swan Lake, Giselle, Anna Karenina…
Katya launched her career in Pilates in 2001, completing a comprehensive 10-month training course with the Canadian Stott master trainer, Miriane Braaf-Taylor. Katya has been a certified Pilates method alliance (PMA®) teacher since 2008.
Over the years she has supplemented her expertise by participating in numerous specialist courses: SI joint dysfunction, spinal bio-mechanics, shoulder rehab, muscle activation, body sensing, fascial fitness, kinetic precision, Lyno® and many others.
After teaching Pilates full-time for over 20 years, Katya’s vast experience has earned her the reputation of being a superb teacher, who uses her formidable demonstration abilities, sense of humour and motivational techniques to inspire her clients and students.
Ms Kinski has been offered many opportunities to work with elite athletes as well as dedicated amateur sportsmen, refining their technique for better results in competitive fields. Working with physiotherapists and biokineticists, she has also helped many athletes return to their sport and regular activities after debilitating injuries.
Ms Kinski is a founder of the Pilates Academy SA, which provides certified Pilates instructor training to medical and healthcare practitioners. The courses are accredited for continued professional development (CPD) by Stellenbosch University.
